Wedding Band Guide - How To Choose His

Published by Chris Dennis on 28th Jan 2021

Your big day is fast approaching and with all of the

decisions yet to be made about catering, finalizing guest lists,

and whether or not to go with assigned seating or to let

everyone intermingle at the reception, one of the last things on

your mind is the one decision that will be with you the longest.

Your wedding band. The piece of jewelry that symbolizes your

love for your bride-to-be. It is that time-honored tradition

signifying to the world that you have found that special

someone with whom you want to spend the rest of your life

with.

Now, I know what you’re thinking- that any old ring will do so long as it fits, right? Well,

I’d hate to break it to you but there’s a lot more to it than that. But don’t worry, Bishops

Jewelry is here to help with this handy guide to help you find the ring that is right for

you.

Don't Go Alone

First and foremost, DON'T GO ALONE! Trust me. You should arrange a time with your

fiancé so that you can both visit us together. Especially bring them if you plan on

matching pieces. If they can’t make it, it's not the end of the world because the rest of

this guide can be used at home so that you are both on the same page.

Budget

Alrighty, so now that that is out of the way, let’s talk budget. You want to find the

perfect ring but you shouldn’t break the bank to find it. The best approach is to window

shop. Go to your local jewelry store and take a look at what styles and size of stone

you like. Get pricing, and budget from there. If the ring you like is too expensive, choose

a similar style with maybe a different metal. Did you know titanium and cobalt chrome

are a more durable and less expensive alternative for white gold? Keep in mind you

don't have to go "all out" from the start, you can always upgrade later on a special

occasion or anniversary.

Lifestyle

Next up- lifestyle. What do you do for a living? What are your hobbies? These are

things you need to consider when are looking for that special ring. If you use your hands

a lot, be it rock climbing, weight lifting, or working construction, you find the proper

metals to suit your lifestyle. Gold is really soft, so unless you are really good about

taking off your ring before you start these activities, you should probably consider a

harder metal- one that could withstand your day to day life. Our favorite ring for men

with a more rugged lifestyle is our Elysium solid diamond rings.

As you know, diamond is the hardest material on Earth,

rating 10 out of 10 on the Moh’s hardness scale. It is at least 4 times harder than

tungsten and 10 times harder than ceramic. Diamond cannot be scratched except by

other diamonds. This means that Elysium diamond rings can be worn for a lifetime and

will never be scratched unless exposed to another source of diamond material. They

are the hardest, most scratch-resistant rings available on Earth.

Customize

If you want to go the custom route, let us help you out. We at Bishops can bring your

imagination to life with a 3D printed replica of your dream ring. We can help you make

absolutely certain that this is the ring for you before we cast it. First we sketch up your

ideas with our 3D CAD program on the computer, then we make alterations with you

until the design is exactly what you envision. Next, we print a small replica of your ring

with our 3D printer, that way you can physically try on the ring before we cast it.
